Frankencells
Harvard thinks they may have come up with something that could possibly, at some point in the future, solve the stem-cell question. They are combining stem cells with skin cells. I think it's great that we're finding ways around the government's problem with using these cells, but anything involving genetic mutation bothers me. Don't get me wrong, I love scientific advancement, and I'm especially for anything that could make my sister a healthier person, but I'm not sure it's smart to start fusing things together. I don't eat genetically modified foods, and I'm not sure where I stand on genetically modified body parts. I know it will be years before this is even a possibility, but I wonder where it will ultimately lead, and if it will be a place we really want to go.

PC - I'd be very much for forcing companies to label food GMO.
I refuse to eat anything but organic food. I just don't know what chemicals I'm putting into my body otherwise and I want to be he one controlling what goes in and out of my body. Beef is a big issue with us.
I worry about the future of mutating cells and how ethically responsible we'll be. The drug companies ae corrupt and out health care system is a little crazy. Will this be seen as a money making scheme or as medical advancement?
One thing to understand...
Government does NOT have a problem with stem cell research. People, mostly people of religion, have the problem for reasons I clearly understand and generally agree with. The shit is indeed creepy. (Funny how they will change their opinion the minute someone in their immediate circle could actually use the benefits that stem cells could possibly provide though. hmmm...different day...) Anyhow, Government could give a shit. All they care about is where the money comes from and who votes for them. Beyond that, they all are spineless, greedy douche bags with "FOR SALE" signs on their souls. If the Church of Dr. Mengele were to come along with billions of dollars to spend and wanted to find a way to use the freshest baby fetuses, forcibly removed from poor migrant farm workers here in an illegal status to grow human pussys on the back of cats so terrorism suspects in guantanamo can have something to fuck after evening prayers, the tapdance on policy for some of our wonderful politicians would be great entertainment for a guy like me to watch. You can't expect a soulless deviant with no morals to fairly take a stand on a moral issue such as stem cell research. To government, you, me, and everyone else is nothing more than shit on their shoes. Never forget that. Until some other time...

All knowledge is good. Its how you use it that can be dangerous, stupid and evil. GM(which is really just speeded up selective breeding) is great if your looking to increase yields or make crops drought restistant. If your aim is to make them imune to herbicides and pesticides so that you can eradicate every other living thing in the zone then I'm not so keen.
Not all genetic modifying is about selective breeding. I'm not against selective breeding in any way. I'm against the bovine growth hormone and other such products. I think injecting anyhing into our food or food sources is a bad idea. Selective breeding is a different thing entirely.
