Save Some Energy!!!
Move your thermostat down 2° in winter (or leave it at 65 and put on a sweater) and up 2° in summer (or leave it at 76 and put the quilt away for the season). Turn the thermostats WAY down or off when you leave the house, and LEAVE THE HOUSE often. If it’s too hot or too cold to do things outside, go to public places that are being heated or cooled anyway. Remember that heating and air conditioning is a luxury, not a necessity in most places throughout most of the year. Almost half of the energy we use in our homes goes to heating and cooling. You could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment. The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy has more tips for saving energy on heating and cooling.Clean or replace filters on your furnace and air conditioner. Cleaning a dirty air filter can save 350 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Really, how much does a filter cost? It only takes a minute to change.

Small steps but big gains.
The best way forward.
Our thermostat is at 77 and the baby is mostly naked. He doesn't seem to mind.
I would add, when driving, accelerate slowly (except in freeway conditions). Learn to feel your car. There is a point when accelerating where no more speed is gained, but the peddle continues to move. If you pay attention, you can feel the point where acceleration starts to drop off. Stop pushing the pedal there.
Weather strip your doors and windows. Buy fans.
We have it at 59 in the winter. But then again, we can take it. In the summer, we just open up the windows.
Good ideas though.

I guess I should mention that we do the same as Zombie for the most part. Sometimes the days get a little too humid for us to be able to breathe easily.
Thanks for the tip, Dave!
Good points. But I can assure you, air-conditioning is not a luxury here in central Florida.
To make up for it, I never use the heat.
Godwhaker,
Really? So the people who lived there centuries ago used central air? I'm not meaning to be sarcastic, just making a point.
How about if you just leave the AC off? Yeah, it is uncomfortable but it is doable. I live in south Georgia and my AC hasn't been on yet this year. People survived quite well without it for thousands of years......
